Document Apostille: Which documents can be apostilled?
According to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, official documents issued by the following public services are recognized as public acts for apostille:
- Municipal Chambers
- Notary offices
- Civil Registration
- Commercial or Land Registration Boards
- Public Educational Establishments
- Private Educational Establishments*
- Parish councils
- Ministries
- Courts
*Documents issued by private educational establishments are also accepted for apostille, as long as they are previously authenticated by the General Directorate of School Establishments or by the General Directorate of Higher Education, in the case of documents issued by private higher education establishments.
Documents of acts of recognition, certification or authentication, made by lawyers or attorneys, can also be apostilled. However, they must be accompanied by a photocopy of the respective professional certificate.
